Plus: $57 Beyoncé tickets for sale?

Good afternoon,

For all my fellow BeyHive fans — our queen, Beyoncé, is back on stage. And better yet, you can get a ticket for (dare I say) a reasonable price.

  • Hours before doors opened yesterday at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles for the first night of Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter Tour, tickets dropped as low as $57.50. Had I known, I would have been on the first plane to LA! Both her daughters even made an appearance 💙

  • If you haven’t snagged a ticket yet, prices are falling — to varying degrees — across the summer 2025 tour.

It’s a massive departure from 2023, when my friends packed their bags for Europe to see Taylor Swift and/or Beyoncé because it was cheaper than the states.

🚨 ONE IMPORTANT THING

Trump’s First 100 Days: Tariffs Has Global Tensions & Uncertainty On The Rise

Today marks the 100th day of President Trump’s second term, which he won by convincing voters he could grow the U.S. economy and bring down prices.

But, the latest economic data shows he still has a major uphill climb there due to some of his own policies. Consumer confidence fell sharply in April to its lowest level since October 2011 amid fears of rising prices and a possible recession. The catalyst: Trump launching his tariff war.

The president spoke with Amazon founder Jeff Bezos on Tuesday, following reports that the company was considering showing shoppers how much tariffs were adding to product prices. Ultimately, Amazon said it’s “not going to happen,” but the episode underscores the pressure U.S. businesses are feeling as no meaningful deals have emerged from Trump’s 90-day reciprocal tariff pause — not to mention the broad 10% tariffs on most of the world that do not appear to be going away anytime soon.

LOOKING AT THE NUMBERS
Recent CNN polling shows that 59% of Americans believe the economy is worsening due to Trump’s policies — nearly seven out of 10 believe it is at least somewhat likely that a recession will happen in the next year. For those concerned about any potential bias, Fox News polling is pretty much in line with that as well.

  • Stocks have also reflected this anxiety, with the S&P 500 losing 8% of its value since the Inauguration — the worst first 100 days of a new presidential administration for the stock market since former President Richard Nixon's second term in 1973.

Billionaires who initially cheered his win are now warning that bond yields are up, the dollar is weaker, and trust in U.S. economic leadership is eroding. It comes as Trump’s America First agenda seeks to bring manufacturing jobs back to the U.S., while simultaneously reshaping the federal workforce — the nation’s largest employer. At least 120,000 federal workers have been fired, laid off, or put on leave from federal agencies so far under Trump II.

WHAT THE WHITE HOUSE IS SAYING
The Trump administration is touting job growth outside of the federal government, more people working without high school diplomas, and a slight drop in the veteran unemployment rate.

  • Eggs & energy: The White House also is highlighting that egg prices have dropped about 50% since the post-Inauguration spike of over $8/dozen in February and is claiming that its efforts to cut existing federal regulations will save American families $180 billion over the next decade.

  • Tariffs: They say they are reshaping the American economy, despite acknowledging there will be some short-term economic pain and that a recession is possible. They have listed dozens of companies that have promised to bring factories and operations to the U.S. — though some made those commitments prior to Trump taking office.

FRIENDS AND FOES
Much of that stock market volatility came from the tariffs, namely on China, which he targeted with a 145% levy on all goods this month. Some economists fear that the move could cause a tariff-driven recession.

  • Some of the U.S. closest allies are rethinking how to negotiate with the U.S. under Trump II.

    • Canadians elected Liberal Party Leader Mark Carney as Prime Minister on Monday, in no small part due to his tough-on-Trump approach. Carney has promised a “broad renegotiation of our security and trade relationship” with the U.S., one of Canada’s largest trading partners. In his acceptance speech, he accused Trump of trying to “break” Canada.

TRUMP AROUND THE WORLD
Along with calling to have Canada become the 51st state, Trump has not toned down his calls to expand the U.S. — including expanding U.S. control over the Panama Canal and Greenland.

On the campaign trail, Trump promised to bring quick peace abroad — but progress has been slow.

  • Ukraine and Russia: Trump had a major public clash with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky over U.S. aid. However, behind the scenes at the Pope’s funeral in Rome, there were reportedly “constructive” talks — though major breakthroughs remain elusive. He has grown frustrated with the lack of momentum, and is threatening to end his involvement in talks if there is no progress in the coming days.

  • Israel and Gaza: Although dozens of hostages were freed early in his term, the conflict has reignited with no second-phase deal in sight.

  • Iran and North Korea: Trump restarted nuclear negotiations with Iran, and is reportedly interested in doing the same with North Korea.

ICYMI FROM THE 📲

Even the richest man in the world has been thinking about a men-versus-gorilla battle lately.

In case you missed it… Who would win? 100 men or a gorilla? 🦍

Apparently, a lot of people on the internet are wrestling with that very question lately. The debate started in 2020, when a Reddit user on the “sub-reddit” r/WhoWouldWin posed the question of who would win in a battle - 100 beer-slugging men of average weight and height, or a single silverback gorilla?

The question has made a comeback in recent days, when an X user posted the same hypothetical scenario and garnered over 270 million views and over 90,000 replies. Some users responded in earnest, while others took the opportunity to make ironic memes. X owner Elon Musk and YouTuber Mr. Beast even joined in on the meme-making fun.

But have these guys never played Donkey Kong? In that game, all it took was one mustachioed plumber.
